To help people make more informed decisions at the polls on May 16, the League of Women Voters of Portland will release its Voters' Guide next week.
The Voters' Guide is free and will be available at the MultnomahCounty Elections Office, 1040 S.E. Morrison St., on the Internet and at all branches of the Multnomah County Library. The guide also will be included as an insert in the Portland Tribune on Tuesday, April 25.
For the May primary election, the league submitted questions to candidates for statewide office and the Legislature and to candidates running for positions with Metro, the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners, the Multnomah County Circuit Court and the city of Portland. The guide contains the candidates' unedited responses.
Approximately63,000 copies of the Multnomah County edition of the guide have been printed. The League of Women Voters of Oregon, with support from the Help America Vote Act, has also published "Easy-to-Read" and Spanish editions for statewide races that will be available at many locations.
Voters can find candidate information for Portland and Multnomah County races on the Web site of the League of Women Voters of Portland, www.lwvpdx.org. Information from candidates for statewide office will be available on the Web site of the League of Women Voters of Oregon, www.lwvor.org.
The Voters' Guide is made possible through support provided by local companies, foundations and league members. The League of Women Voters of Oregon has produced the guide for over 60 years.
