1. Over 3,500 people celebrated Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday at the 27th Annual Martin Luther King March and Rally at Garfield High School on Jan. 19, the eve of the inauguration of Barack Obama as President of the United States.
2. Barbara DeVeaux, a 3rd grader at Cooper Elementary School (one of the schools scheduled to be closed) sings the Black National Anthem at the 27th Annual Martin Luther King March and Rally at Garfield High School.
3. The annual march and rally is one of the biggest held in the United States, and this year more people participated than ever.
4. The Ebenezer AME Zion Church Children's Choir sings at the 27th Annual Martin Luther King March and Rally at Garfield High School.
5. The Kutt'n'up Dancers performed a dance honoring both MLK and Barack Obama at the Martin January 16th at Garfield Community Center. Over a dozen performers danced, sang and performed spoken word at the event.
6. Raspy, a member of the Hip Hop Youth Council joined over a dozen artists at the Martin Luther King Youth Hip Hop Show Jan. 16 at Garfield Community Center.
