Shakespeare in the Park

The 18th annual season of Shakespeare in the Park, presented by GreenStage, is back in full swing. Since 1989, GreenStage has been presenting William Shakespeare's plays in Seattle area parks every weekend during August.
Each season includes three productions per year, with a total of more than 50 performances. Each summer, the shows reach over 6,000 people. The plays run through the end of the month; all performances are free, but donations are accepted.
Friday, Aug. 11, GreenStage will perform "Henry VI" at 7 p.m., in Volunteer Park, 1247 15th Ave. E., and again at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream" will be performed at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, in Volunteer Park. A repeat performance takes place at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, in Seward Park, 5902 Lake Washington Blvd.
In producing plays, GreenStage's goal is to focus on story and characters, capturing the life and truth in plays and sharing it with the audience. As Seattle's Shakespeare in the Park company — and the city' longest-running Shakespeare company — GreenStage is committed to presenting quality productions of classic theatre in a manner that is available to all.

In order to reach the largest audience possible, GreenStage's performances are presented free of charge. The company relies on voluntary donations from contributors and the generous support of park departments, arts organizations and businesses.
Bring chairs, blankets, a picnic lunch, dinner or snacks, and be prepared for the weather. In case of rain, the show will still go on if the audience is willing to stay.
