Class Tackles Alzheimer's Issues

Judy McKellar, executive director of the Alzheimer's Association, Oregon chapter, will discuss the current understanding of Alzheimer's disease, including the signs and symptoms that lead to diagnosis, risk factors, treatment and communicating with the person who has Alzheimer's.
The discussion takes place from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 27, in the Multnomah County East Building Blue Lake Room, 600 N.E. Eighth St. in Gresham.
McKellar's visit is sponsored by Multnomah County Department of Human Services' Family Caregiver Support Program and YWCA of Greater Portland.
"Alzheimer's affects people in varying ways and ripples out to impact the lives of those who interact with them, McKellar said. "Understanding what is happening to a person with Alzheimer's is key to interacting effectively and providing quality care."
