Historic Seattle Black Church Hosts "Bring Your Ballot to Church" Event to Mobilize Voters

Continuing the powerful tradition of Black churches leading social progress in America, First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Seattle/Auburn (FAME Church) invites all community members to be part of a historic "Bring Your Ballot to Church" event on Sunday, November 3. As Seattle's oldest African American-founded church, FAME carries forward the legacy of Black churches as centers of civic engagement and social transformation.

The event will unite fellow citizens at FAME's location at 1522 14th Ave. in Seattle, embodying the same spirit of community action that has driven social change throughout American history. Families are especially encouraged to participate, bringing the youth to witness and be part of this powerful moment of civic engagement.

"This is a pivotal election cycle where the presidency of the United States is on the line," says Pastor Carey Anderson.

"We need a concerted effort to get everyone out to vote this season to put people in office who will preserve and protect our constitution and serve the people of the United States of America."

Desley Brooks, chairperson of the FAME Social Action Commission, welcomes all eligible voters to participate: "Whether you're a longtime resident or new to the area, your vote matters. Come be part of this historic moment as we walk together to make our voices heard."

 The "Bring Your Ballot to Church" event begins after church service, and all eligible voters are welcome.

The Program will feature Inspiring message on civic engagement, family-friendly community solidarity walk to ballot drop box and a chance to be part of an historic moment in the community

As featured on Eddie Rye Jr.’s KKNW radio show (airing Thursdays 2-3 p.m., replaying Saturdays 7-8 a.m.), this non-partisan event represents the community's commitment to civic engagement and positive change.

FAME Church will also host an Election Night Watch Party on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Doors open at 6 p.m. Join in witness the results of civic engagement.
