Oregon Historical Society, Oregon Black Pioneers Host ‘Celebrate History and Make a Difference Now!’ Event June 9

Oregon Historical Society and Oregon Black Pioneers will host an event, ‘Celebrate History and Make a Difference Now!’ from 2 to 4 p.m. June 9.

Meet representatives from local organizations to learn about how you can get involved in promoting social change within your community. Hear a short reflection from representatives from the Oregon Black Pioneers and the Oregon Historical Society about the creation of the exhibit “Racing to Change: Oregon’s Civil Rights Years,” on view at the Oregon Historical Society through June 24, and celebrate this exhibition with a slice of free cake.

The state’s premier Black heritage organization, Oregon Black Pioneers, is dedicated to illuminating African Americans’ contributions to Oregon’s history through research, publications, exhibits, and community outreach. The organization's newest exhibition, Racing to Change: Oregon’s Civil Rights Years, directly builds on three highly successful collaborations with the Oregon Historical Society and reflects the all-volunteer organization's increasing capacity to create meaningful opportunities for community dialogue and learning.
