PCRI to Host Pathway 1000 Community Kick-Off

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 7, Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives, Inc. will present the Pathway 1000 Community Kick-Off. The kick-off will be at the Portland Metropolitan Workforce Training Center located at 5600 NE 42nd. Ave. 

After a refreshing continental breakfast, attendees will hear from Maxine Fitzpatrick, Executive Director of PCRI, about the Pathway 1000 Initiative. The event will be moderated by Andrea Debnam, Manager of Resident Services at PCRI. Followed by Maxine and Andrea, Mateo Bradford-Vazquez, an independent financial professional, will talk about different ways to think about money. Qualen Carter, Home Street Bank, will discuss how to prepare yourself to become mortgage ready. Lastly, Nate McCoy, National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMCO), will have an open discussion about current employment opportunities. In addition to a question and answer session, our information booth will have information about PCRI, updated construction information on the Beatrice Morrow apartments, King Park-another affordable rental housing development to be located on the corner of MLK and Rosa Parks Way, and more details on the Pathway 1000 Initiative. 

The purpose of implementing the Pathways 1,000 Initiative is to restore involuntary displacement by building 100 homes per year, over the next ten years, totaling 1,000 homes available for rent or purchase in north and northeast Portland.
